Aylen Vielma

BSc (Hons) MSc DClinPsy

Aylen is a certified and fully qualified specialist in Clinical Psychology, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council UK, the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board and relevant European Psychology Associations and professional regulators like EMDR Europe, SE Europe and the Official Society of Psychologist (COP). She has been working in Gibraltar for 20 years offering public and private services as a committed citizen and supporting charity causes. She has over twenty five years of progressive professional experience, extensive academic, research and supervised clinical training accomplished with distinctions and continued professional development.

 

She firstly obtained an Honours Degree in Psychology (1991-1996) from the Central University of Venezuela, where she was awarded with the mention Magna Cum Laude. Secondly, she undertook a postgraduate specialization course at the University Hospital of Caracas and obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (1997-1999), receiving a Thesis Publication Mention. During this training she gained valuable experience as a clinician and therapist working in a multidisciplinary team, for various medical departments and a broad range of client groups. Thirdly, Aylen studied in a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Research Program (2005-2007) at Malaga University, where she obtained the Accreditation in Research Proficiency and Advanced Studies. Aylen practiced in Venezuela as a member of the Society of Psychologist (FVP) from 1996 to 2002 at prestigious Universities, General Hospitals, Government Departments, Psychiatric Hospitals and Private Clinics.

 

In Europe she obtained official recognition for her extensive qualifications and experience by the HCPC UK, the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board being licenced to work in the UK, Spain and Gibraltar. Since 2003, Aylen has been offering private and public services in Gibraltar. She firstly worked at the GHA, Clinical Psychology Department as an Honorary Member (2003) and subsequently as a Locum Clinical Psychologist (2004-2005) in cooperation with Dr. Graham McColl. At the same time she became an adviser and co-founder for the local anti-bullying NGO “Dignity at Work Now” and started her private practice at the College Clinic as well as in collaboration with Dr. Beguelin at Central Clinic.
